Rwanda Basic Education Board Approves Scholarships for 300 In-Service Teachers for Academic Year 2025–2026
In a major step toward enhancing the professional qualifications of Rwandan educators, the Rwanda Basic Education Board (REB) has approved scholarships for 300 in-service teachers for the 2025–2026 academic year. This follows the cabinet decision of January 28, 2019, which prioritized the continuous development of A2 and A1 teachers in public and government-aided schools.
The selected teachers—223 A2 and 77 A1 qualified professionals—have been identified based on their strong commitment to personal and professional growth. They will now be admitted to the University of Rwanda, College of Education (UR/CE) to pursue further studies under this fully funded scholarship program.
Advancing Teacher Quality Through Education
This initiative reflects the Ministry of Education’s (MINEDUC) dedication to improving the quality of education by empowering teachers with advanced skills and academic knowledge. Through the allocation of 300 annual scholarships, the program is designed to upskill educators and ultimately improve student outcomes across the country.
The selected beneficiaries will undergo registration and admission procedures in preparation for the 2025–2026 academic year, as they begin their studies at UR/CE. The Rwanda Basic Education Board has called upon the University to provide its usual cooperation in facilitating this proce
