1. Visa Assistant

The Embassy of the United States of America in Kigali is recruiting for Visa Assistant position. The position is open to All Interested Candidates/All Sources and available to start immediately.

Duties: The Visa Assistant combines responsibilities in the American Citizen Services (ACS), Immigrant Visas (IV), Nonimmigrant Visas (NIV) and Fraud Prevention (FP) Units, along with administrative, correspondence, and cashiering duties. The position requires detailed knowledge of United States Citizenship and Immigration Services operations to process Visa cases. The Visa Assistant assists with providing the full range of consular services in a high-stress and high-productivity U.S. Embassy Consular Section. S/he must protect personal information on American Citizens and visa applicants in accordance with privacy regulations.  The incumbent must also liaise with the Management Section, the Public Affairs Section, and other sections/agencies at the U.S.  Embassy to accomplish the Consular Section’s objectives.

Duties: The Computer Management Assistant is responsible for the daily operational management and administration of the unclassified computer network and system operations at U.S. Embassy Kigali for Department of State and other U.S. Government agencies. The Computer Management Assistant supervises four Locally Employed (LE) computer staff and provides daily oversight, technical assistance, and direction. The position holder is supervised by the Information Management Specialist.

The position holder spends a large percentage of the time serving customers at the U.S. Embassy in Kigali’s mailroom service window. The position holder is supervised by the Mailroom Supervisor.

4. Resource Coordination Assistant 

Vacancy Announcement: KIGALI- 2022-028

The Embassy of the United States of America in Kigali is recruiting for Resource Coordination Assistant position. The position is open to All Interested Candidates/All Sources and available to start immediately.

Duties: The Resource Coordination Assistant works under the direct supervision of the Public Affairs Officer (PAO) and is the Public Diplomacy (PD) Locally Employed Staff member responsible for executing administrative aspects of the Public Affairs Section.  Supports Public Affairs Section (PAS) specialists and assistants for exchanges and other public engagement programs and activities.  The Resource Coordination Assistant serves as backup to the Administration and Budget Assistant, as needed, to handle aspects of grants administration and tracking PD budgets and expenditures.  The Jobholder oversees PD section time & attendance, staff travel, representation, vouchers, and other administrative tasks; manages program calendars. Additionally, the Jobholder serves as the primary point of contact for the PD Section, ensuring that visitors receive accurate and timely information with the highest levels of customer service.

5. Electrical Maintenance Worker 

Vacancy Announcement: KIGALI- 2022-027

The Embassy of the United States of America in Kigali is recruiting for Electrical Maintenance Worker position. The position is open to All Interested Candidates/All Sources and available to start immediately.

Duties: The Electrical Maintenance Worker works in the Facility Management section of the Embassy, the Electrical Maintenance Worker carries out scheduled and unscheduled electrical preventive maintenance and repair work to all United States Government buildings and facilities including residential owned and leased properties. The Electrical Maintenance Worker repairs malfunctioning electrical systems and ensures that all tasks are completed in accordance with applicable codes and manufacturers’ recommendations.  Additionally, the jobholder performs preventive maintenance by inspecting, adjusting, and troubleshooting electrical systems to ensure reliable operation and uninterrupted electrical current to critical facilities.  Jobholder records and compiles operational data, completing and maintaining forms, logs, and reports.
